THE BAR WAS SET EARLY

My career didn’t start quietly. It began at the infamous Maury Povich Show, an immediate initiation into volatility, pressure, and unpredictability. So much for easing into my first job.

The show was in its 18th season when I arrived. It was already a well-oiled machine that never stopped. Day and night, potential guests called the Maury hotline seeking help. The kind of help that involves DNA drama and lie detector tests.

It was my job to find stories with raw emotion that were real, compelling, and most importantly, entertaining. In a world fueled by DNA reveals, Team Maury turned around results faster than most police departments. It was exceptionally executed controlled chaos, with equal parts precision and pandemonium.

I quickly learned how to manage explosive personalities without losing my own sanity, while occasionally making others question theirs. You learn to read energy, set boundaries, and make decisions in real time because hesitation shows. That environment doesn’t teach theory. It sharpens instincts.

Those skills translate everywhere: leadership, client management, negotiations, and high-pressure execution.

Not everyone can do it.
I’m proud to say I did.

After three decades and 31 seasons on the air, Maury retired from his daytime talk show in 2022 at 83 years old. He’s still entertaining America - this time on his podcast, On Par with Maury Povich. If you ask, he may tell you with a knowing smile, his golf handicap is a 4.

Some of the producers who set the standard for me early on, the ones who defined what real work ethic looks like, are still right there beside him. Consistent. Loyal. Still operating at the same level.

That was the bar. It still is.
